About Us

On June 22,1937, twenty-seven contractors while meeting at the Robert E. Lee Hotel in Jackson, Mississippi had the foresight to establish the Mississippi Highway Contractors Association.

The objectives, as originally outlined by the founding group, included promoting the development of roads throughout the state, cooperating with other related entities to establish an on-going highway program, encouraging cooperation among the contractors, representing the contractors with public officials, combating unfair practices, and assisting contractors in achieving the greatest organizational efficiency.

To further enhance its potential influence, in 1949 the MHCA recognized the need to broaden its membership to include not only highway contractors but allied businesses as well. With that change came a new name, the Mississippi Road Builder's Association.

Today, the association begins leading its membership into the 21st with its new programs and another generation of contractors.

The MRBA is dedicated to proactively serving our members at the state of Mississippi by promoting the building and maintenance of our roads and bridges to exemplary standards.
